Charles Starrett’s Prep School

June 6, 2008

The school was originally established as the Worcester County Manual Labor High School in 1834.  The mission statement described it as “a school for the education of youth in languages, arts and sciences; for promoting habits of industry and economy; and for inculcating the principles of piety and virtue.”

The name had been changed to Worcester Academy by the time Charles Starrett attended, graduating in 1922. Notable alums include Governors, Bankers, College Presidents and Football players.

It is located in the city of Worcester, right in the middle of Massachusetts.

School Motto: “Έφικνού τών Καλών.” Translation: “Achieve the Honorable.”
